Cigarettes and Radiation: What You Need to Know

Suwit Ritjaroon / FreeDigitalPhotos.net

Ask someone if radiation is harmful to humans and you will get unanimous shouts of yes! In fact, since the dropping of the first atom bomb and the outbreak of the Cold War, the masses have cowered in fear at the prospect of ever being exposed to radiation. Well guess what? Radiation poisoning may be happening right under your nose: cigarettes contain radiation, providing yet another compelling reason for all smokers to quit smoking.

According to historical documents analyzed in a study conducted at the University of California, Los Angeles, tobacco companies knew for over forty years that their products had polonium-210, a radioactive compound, in them and instead of doing something about it, they simply hid this information from the public. That’s right—Big Tobacco knowingly and willingly exposed smokers to radiation! So aside from all the other poisons and toxins invading the body with every cigarette puff, smokers also get an unhealthy dose of radiation every time they inhale.

This disturbing news should be a flashing red sign to quit smoking, but as a particularly strong psycho-social habit, smoking cessation is easier said than done. But just because quitting smoking isn’t easy, doesn’t mean that it is impossible.

Because smoking is a psycho-social habit, one very good quit smoking option is quit smoking hypnosis. Quit smoking hypnosis is about re-programming smokers’ attitudes and beliefs towards cigarettes so that they are no longer dependent on them for psychological soothing. Quit smoking hypnosis is typically done under the guidance of a  hypnotherapist, but it is a practice that can be embarked on alone. All one needs to engage in quit smoking hypnosis is willpower and courage.  And the benefits are worth it: imagine a physically and psychologically healthy body free from radiation!

Smoking is a psychosocial habit that does great damage to a person’s mental and physical health. If you are someone you know is struggling with a smoking habit, and are concerned about radiation levels in cigarettes, please contact us for more details or share your own ideas and experiences with us on Facebook or Twitter.

Customer Testimonials

Hi Maureen. Just a quick note to say thank you. I have not had even a puff of cigarette since our session on 10 May 14. Any desire or thought flits straight out again. This is certainly a much less painful way to stop smoking. I recommend you to anyone who is interested, even had someone ask about weight loss. Hope all is well for you.  Regards
Gail Wilshire
